From Wreck to Wow, one step at a time

Our Step-by-Step Collision Repair Process

In 2019, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported more than 6 million crashes. While a collision isn’t unique, the process can be confusing and filled with pitfalls.

There are no one-size-fits-all solutions when it comes to the repair process. One thing is sure, though—at Harv’s Auto Body Repair, you’ll experience an efficient and streamlined collision repair and auto bodywork process. We’ll do the heavy lifting, so you can focus on returning to normal.

While the collision repair process will vary based on the extent of the damage and other factors, here are the standard steps:

While the collision repair process will vary based on the extent of the damage and other factors, here are the standard steps:

1

Damage Assessment and Estimation

Our expert team of collision repair technicians, damage appraisers, and collision estimate professionals will assess the damage to the vehicle and create an estimate of the repair costs.

We use the latest technology, equipment, and software to ensure our estimates are accurate and comprehensive. The process may also involve disassembling the damaged areas to determine the full extent of the damage.

2

Filing of Collision Insurance Claim

Once we have the collision estimate, we will communicate directly with your collision insurance company.

If the repair is covered, we will work with your insurance company to create a claim and get approval for the repair. We will take care of communicating all work estimates and transmission of digital photographs and documentation.

By working directly with your insurance company, we free you from the headache and hassles. As a bonus, we have extensive experience working with lots of collision insurance providers.

3

Discussing the Collision Insurance Coverage

Next, we will help you understand everything your insurance will cover. We’ll discuss whether your insurance will pay for aftermarket or OEM parts. We’ll also help you think through other considerations so you can make an informed and confident decision.

We will also discuss any out-of-pocket costs you must pay before work begins. Most importantly, we will make sure every cost and scope of work is crystal clear.

4

Parts Ordering

With a clear understanding of insurance coverages and your preferences, we will order all necessary replacement parts and materials, including body panels, paint, and other components.

5

Disassembly

To properly assess the extent of the damage and prepare the area for repair, we will disassemble the damaged parts of your vehicle. This will also allow us to identify any hidden damage and ensure that all necessary repairs are included in the estimate.

6

Frame Straightening & Structural Repair

If the damage includes structural damage, our technicians will use specialized equipment and techniques to repair the frame and restore the vehicle's structural integrity. Our team will work diligently to ensure that your vehicle is structurally sound.

7

Body Repair

Once the structural repairs are complete, we move on to repairing your vehicle’s body. Any damaged body panels will be fixed or replaced. We use high-quality materials and techniques to ensure the repairs are seamless and that the finish matches the rest of the vehicle.

8

Paint Preparation & Application

Fillers and sealers will be applied to prepare the surface for painting. We will also apply primer and sand the surface to ensure a smooth finish. The vehicle (if covered) will be painted using our state-of-the-art PPG Paint equipment.

9

Vehicle Reassembly

Once the painting process is complete, your vehicle will be reassembled. Every part and component will be restored to its original location. This step is critical because missing one screw can jeopardize the integrity and driving safety of the vehicle.

10

Detailing and Cleaning

After the dirty work has been performed, we will perform professional detailing to ensure no debris or dust remains. We will repolish the paint to achieve a dynamic shine and luster.

11

Quality Control, Inspection, and Delivery

Before returning your restored vehicle to you, we will perform a final inspection. We do this to ensure everything is in working order and the repair meets our high standards.
